Welcome to Bulgaria!
Charming Bulgaria will surprise you pleasantly with its beautiful landscapes, delicious cuisine, hospitable people and interesting history. Bulgaria is situated in south–eastern Europe. It occupies the central part of the Balkan peninsula on both sides of the Balkan Mountains (the Balkans), from which the peninsula has taken its name. The country preserves the traditions (in ethnic name, language and alphabet) of the First Bulgarian Empire (632/681 – 1018), which at times covered most of the Balkans, and spread its alphabet, literature and culture among the Slavic and other peoples of Eastern Europe.

Bulgaria is a beautiful mountainous country, with tourism opportunities being one of its biggest assets. The country possesses beautiful landscapes and beaches, and is becoming a real resort paradise. The Black Sea Coast on its eastern border is famous for its fine sand beaches, and perfect water and air temperatures.

Sitting on an elevated plateau at the feet of Mount Vitosha, Sofia is the highest located capital in Europe with a population of around 1.2 million. For centuries the centre of trans–European routes, Sofia sits midway between the Black Sea and the Adriatic.
